Bruhat Soma, a 12-year-old Indian-American from Florida, emerged victorious at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday. Soma’s exceptional memory and composure under pressure propelled him to victory, securing him the coveted champion title and a cash prize of $50,000.

A Tense Battle of Words

The tension intensified as the final round required a tiebreaker segment, a rapid-fire spelling challenge. Soma excelled in this pressure cooker, correctly spelling 29 out of 30 words within the allotted 90 seconds. Zaki put up a valiant effort, spelling 20 words, but ultimately fell short.
