Singularity Growth Welcomes Former Trifecta Capital Executive as Senior Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer

Singularity Growth, a platform specializing in growth equity, has enlisted Sandeep Bapat, previously associated with Trifecta Capital, to join as a senior partner and co-chief investment officer.

Expanding Global Perspective

In his new capacity, Bapat will leverage his broad global outlook to identify significant trends and long-term outcomes for existing and potential portfolio companies, according to a statement released by the company.

The firm highlighted that Bapat will assume leadership responsibilities for investment initiatives at Singularity Growth, with a primary focus on delivering exceptional returns for portfolio companies. Additionally, he will also serve as a member of the investment committee.

Yash Kela, the founder and chief investment officer of Singularity, expressed his confidence in Bapat’s extensive experience and successful track record within the investment industry, emphasizing his valuable addition to the team.

Strategic Focus Areas

Bapat outlined the strategic priorities, emphasizing Singularity’s commitment to key sectors such as consumer brands, financial services, software, energy transition, and specialized manufacturing. He articulated the vision of Singularity becoming the preferred investment partner for outstanding entrepreneurs and businesses operating within these sectors.

Impressive Background

With a background including studies at Harvard Business School and IIT Bombay, Bapat brings over 15 years of investment experience to his new role. Prior to joining Singularity, he held positions as a partner at Trifecta Capital, an executive director at Hillhouse Capital, and served at Blackstone.

Notable Investments

Bapat has been involved as an investor and advisor in several notable ventures, including Swiggy, CRED, Atomberg, and Auxilo Finserve.

Singularity’s Journey

Established in 2021 under the leadership of Yash Kela and backed by Singularity Ventures, a family office founded by former Reliance Capital executive Madhusudan Kela, Singularity Growth, has made investments in startups like mCaffeine, Exotel, and WebEngage.

Focused Investment Approach

The private equity firm concentrates on startups operating in consumer, manufacturing, enterprise software, and financial services sectors.

Fund Success

Last October, Singularity announced the closing of its second fund amounting to INR 500 Cr, following the closure of its first fund in March, valued at INR 560 Cr.
