Ashutosh Gupta, who currently heads LinkedIn operations in India and oversees online sales in the APAC region, will bid farewell at the end of April. After an illustrious 11-year tenure, Gupta intends to embark on a hiatus from his professional endeavours.

During his tenure at LinkedIn, Gupta played a pivotal role in steering the company towards significant milestones in India. Notably, he spearheaded the launch of support for the Hindi language, marking a significant stride as the platform’s inaugural Indian language integration. This initiative aimed to enhance value propositions for members, coinciding with a remarkable surge in LinkedIn’s member base in India, surpassing the 100 million milestone. Under Gupta’s stewardship, the Marketing Solutions business witnessed substantial expansion, empowering marketers to harness the platform’s full potential.

LinkedIn’s Prospects in India

LinkedIn, a subsidiary of Microsoft, has experienced remarkable growth in India, establishing itself as the second-largest market globally, trailing only the United States, and boasting approximately 120 million members. The company reported a revenue exceeding $15 billion for fiscal 2023. With the burgeoning adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills in India, LinkedIn aims to influence more than half of the country’s job landscape. Indian users demonstrate a threefold increase in the utilization of AI skills compared to the global average, signalling promising prospects for LinkedIn’s continued growth and impact.

Professional Trajectory

Before assuming his current role as Country Manager, Gupta joined LinkedIn in 2013 as the India country lead for the marketing solutions division. His journey then led him to Singapore in 2016, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the online sales arm for the Asia Pacific region. He returned to India in 2019 to undertake his most recent responsibilities. With a rich background encompassing stints at tech giants like Google and Cognizant, Gupta is also actively involved in organizations like TiE and the Delhi State Council.
