A high-ranking official from the ministry overseeing small and medium-sized businesses (MSME) in India recently presided over the ground-breaking ceremony for a new MSME Technology Centre in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. The minister also kicked off related events focused on industrial achievements and self-employment opportunities.

The New MSME Technology Centre Will Benefit Sindhudurg

This initiative is part of a nationwide effort to expand access to technology for MSMEs. The government plans to establish 20 new technology centres and 100 extension centres across the country. The Sindhudurg centre, with a projected budget of Rs.182 crore, will concentrate on general engineering and food processing sectors, aiming to fuel growth for nearby MSMEs.

The minister expressed his confidence in India’s economic future, predicting the country will become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030. He highlighted the role of the new technology centre in providing advanced training to young people in various fields, thereby propelling the state’s industrial development. Food processing is anticipated to become a significant industry in the region.

Global Ambition: MSMEs Power India’s Progress

Another ministry official emphasized the need for MSMEs to become globally competitive to ensure India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047. The network of technology centres established throughout the country is envisioned to play a crucial role in achieving this goal.
