Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a significant journey to Ayodhya on Sunday, marking his first visit to the sacred city since the consecration at the shrine on January 22. This visit, just two days before the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, held profound significance.

In a televised event, Modi was observed paying respects before the Ram Lalla deity at the recently erected temple. Following this, he took to social media to express his prayers, stating, “At Ayodhya, I sought blessings from Prabhu Shri Ram for the welfare of all my fellow 140 crore Indians.”

A Combination of Political Mobilization and Spiritual Reverence in Prime Minister Modi’s Ayodhya Pilgrimage and Roadshow

The entrance gates to the temple were adorned with vibrant floral decorations in honor of the Prime Minister’s visit. Intricately crafted replicas of a bow and arrow, fashioned from flowers, adorned various parts of the premises. According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Ram Lalla, seated within the temple, donned a light pink ensemble on this auspicious day.

Subsequent to the temple visit, PM Modi participated in a grand roadshow, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Amit Shah. The purpose was to garner support for the incumbent BJP MP from Faizabad, Lallu Singh, as well as other candidates vying for seats in neighboring districts.

Citizens from diverse backgrounds thronged the streets, lining the route as Modi’s convoy traversed through the city. Voting for the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat, which includes the Ayodhya district, is scheduled for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20.

Prime Minister Modi Highlights BJP Support Despite Samajwadi Party Leader’s Slip of the Tongue

Earlier on the same day, the Prime Minister seized upon a slip of the tongue by Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav, highlighting how Mulayam Singh Yadav’s brother inadvertently advocated for the BJP’s victory.

Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah, the hometown of SP’s late founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, Modi recounted a recent incident where Shivpal Yadav, during an election gathering in Jaswant Nagar in the presence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, unintentionally urged people to ensure a sweeping victory for the BJP on May 7.

Reflecting on Mulayam Singh Yadav’s earlier statement of support, Modi remarked, “During the last Parliament session before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mulayam Singh ji had predicted our victory. Now, though he’s no longer with us, it’s intriguing to witness his own brother advocating for the BJP’s triumph. It seems the sentiments in his heart found expression through his words.”
