Zee Media Corporation Parts Ways with CEO Abhay Ojha

Zee Media Corporation Limited (Zee Media) announced the departure of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abhay Ojha on May 4, 2024. The company informed its stakeholders through a regulatory filing that the Board of Directors had approved the termination of Ojha’s employment, effectively ending his tenure as CEO. The filing did not disclose the specific reasons behind this decision.

Ojha’s Rise Within Zee Media

Ojha’s journey with Zee Media began in 2022 when he joined as the Chief Business Officer (CBO). In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the profitability of the company’s linear channels, excluding WION and Zee Business. His performance ultimately led to his promotion to the CEO position in 2023.

Recent Departures at Zee Media

Ojha’s departure follows the resignation of Piyush Choudhary, who served as Zee Media’s Chief Manager – Legal. Choudhary submitted his resignation last month, effective April 30, 2024.

Interim Leadership Announced

In the wake of Ojha’s departure, Zee Media has appointed Idris Loya as the interim CEO. Loya previously held the position of Group Chief Technology Innovation Officer at Essel Group. He brings extensive experience from various companies, including Sony Electronics (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., Samtek Semicon Devices, and Conimp Business Consulting. Additionally, Loya has served as a faculty member at educational institutions like the Disha Institute of Management of Technology and the National Institute of Technology, both located in Raipur.
