Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecom operator, has implemented a significant increase in mobile service charges. This marks the first price hike in nearly two and a half years and affects almost all Jio plans, effective from July 3rd. However, the company has also introduced new Unlimited 5G data plans alongside the price adjustments.

Increased Prices for Prepaid and Postpaid Plans

The new tariff structure sees a price jump for even the most basic recharge plan. The previously ₹15 1 GB data add-on pack now costs ₹19, reflecting a 27% increase. Postpaid plans have also seen revisions, with the popular 75 GB data plan rising from ₹399 to ₹449. The widely used ₹666 unlimited plan offering 84-day validity now comes with a ₹799 price tag, signifying a 20% hike.

Jio Maintains Focus on High-Quality Services and 5G Leadership

Despite the price rise, Reliance Jio reiterated its commitment to delivering exceptional services at competitive global rates. The company highlighted its ongoing efforts to spearhead the 5G sector in India. In a statement, Jio emphasized its “Jio True 5G” network – touted as the world’s fastest 5G rollout – and its leading position in India’s 5G infrastructure. The statement further highlighted the company’s commitment to providing a superior 5G experience with truly unlimited data on its leading plans, without additional user charges.

Akash Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, underscored the strategic significance of the new plans in fostering industry advancements and long-term growth through investments in cutting-edge technologies. He stated that the introduction of the new plans aligns with Jio’s mission to drive innovation and ensure sustainable development by investing in 5G and AI technologies.
